CICED participation in UN ECOSOC Forum 2024

The ECOSOC Partnership Forum held on January 30, 2024, is an annual major event and a well-established platform for discussing the progress and obstacles in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Each year, experts from the CICED present developments in assessing the quality of education and international cooperation to aid the development of education through active participation in discussions on innovative methods for assessing student achievement. These developments aim not only to understand the state of education in the countries applying these approaches but also to promote the localization of the 2030 Agenda at the national level.

The 2024 ECOSOC Partnership Forum took place at the UN Headquarters and online under the theme “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.” Special attention was given to the Sustainable Development Goals that will be reviewed at the 2024 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), namely Goal 1 (no poverty), Goal 2 (zero hunger), Goal 13 (climate action), Goal 16 (peace and justice), and Goal 17 (partnership for the Goals).

In accordance with resolution 75/290A, the 2024 ECOSOC Partnership Forum focused on the exchange of new ideas, expectations, and priorities for the future work of the Forum and the HLPF on the aforementioned theme. The forum showcased and discussed forward-looking initiatives by UN member states and all relevant stakeholders, focusing on innovative partnerships that could mobilize resources to fulfill commitments to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and address new challenges.

Special attention was given to the exchange of practices and the development of solutions aimed at improving the quality of education through strengthening inter-country partnerships and providing assistance to countries in need, as well as integrating sustainable development principles into educational systems. Participation in the forum allowed the Center to discuss advanced Russian initiatives and strengthen Russia’s contribution to the global educational community.
