International webinar on preparation to PISA and PIRLS was held for Uzbekistan

On August 24-25, 2020, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Quality in Education of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Institute for Education Development Strategy of the Russian Academy of Education, organized a webinar named “Participation in international research as a motivating factor for human capital development.”

Uzbekistan is joining the pool of countries participating at international education quality assessment research, such as PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, TALIS, so sharing valueable information on preparation and participation at them is an important issue for the country. The webinar is part of READ program events in Uzbekistan. During the event specialists and experts from a number of Russian education institutions presented their experience and vision of participation and preparation to international comparative research with Uzbekistan educators and education system administrators.

At the two-day webinar renowned international experts have provided valuable inputs on factors of assessment and development of reading, math and science literacy, students’ creativity and text comprehension; has given an overview of actual approaches in the education system.

The event was held in Uzbek and Russian languages and was attended by over 1000 education sphere professionals, including school directors and teachers. The information presented at the webinar will serve as an sufficient baseline for building a strong understanding of today’s requirements to the XXI century education system among the participants, making it easier for them to prepare for the international PIRLS and PISA studies that will be conducted in 2021-2022.
