The UNECE Regional Forum (March 13-14, 2024) served as an important platform for showcasing Russian expertise in sustainable development. The 2024 Regional Forum took place amid multiple crises. In commitment to the 2030 Agenda at the SDG Summit, governments and stakeholders across the UNECE region are focusing on finding effective, innovative, and crisis-resilient strategies and solutions to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, the theme of the 2024 Regional Forum was: “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Economic Commission for Europe region in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.”
Experts from the Center, as well as colleagues from the CIS, participated in a round table dedicated to achieving SDG 16: promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. The aim of the round table was to identify and reinforce the foundations of democratic and societal resilience, discuss overcoming tipping points that can create fragile imbalances and conflict risks, and generate innovative ideas that can propel the region towards peaceful, democratic, digitally equipped, and people-centered societies. Colleagues and experts from the Center, successfully building cooperation amid deep crises, had much to share with forum participants, discussing principles and approaches to building long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships in the region.
