The professional development program for teachers (compensatory modules), developed with the support of the Center for International Cooperation in Education Development, aims to address educational deficits and improve the quality of teaching through specialized training modules for Russian language and mathematics. The program is based on the SAM (Student Achievement Monitoring) methodology, which assesses students’ mastery of educational material at three levels: formal, reflective, and functional.
The program is designed for middle school teachers and focuses on in-depth study of approaches that promote high educational outcomes. It includes modules on lesson planning, the use of interactive teaching methods, the integration of formative assessment, and the analysis of pedagogical practices. Special attention is given to mastering modern educational technologies based on the cultural-historical development theory of L.S. Vygotsky.
Teachers who complete the training acquire the ability to:
– Implement adapted educational materials (teaching and learning modules) to enhance student performance;
– Effectively organize the learning process, considering the individual needs of students;
– Utilize SAM diagnostic results to develop targeted pedagogical interventions.
The program includes in-person seminars, workshops, and distance learning sessions. Participants engage in practical tasks, analyze real-life pedagogical situations, and receive expert consultations. A final test evaluates their professional growth and identifies areas for further development.
In October 2024, a three-day training session for teachers was held at the National Library of the Republic of Tajikistan as part of the professional development program. Over 50 Russian language and mathematics teachers from various regions of Tajikistan participated in the event, organized by the Center for International Cooperation in Education Development.
The training was conducted by leading Russian experts and authors of educational materials. Participants explored modern approaches to lesson planning, the application of the SAM methodology, and the integration of formative assessment into teaching practice. Practical tasks, discussions, and workshops allowed educators to deepen their understanding and acquire effective tools for enhancing the quality of instruction.
Special attention was devoted to teaching and learning materials for Russian language and mathematics aimed at addressing educational deficits among students. Participants praised the high level of preparation by the trainers and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their professional skills.
At the end of the course, all teachers received certificates. The training in Dushanbe marked an important step toward the implementation of advanced educational technologies and the strengthening of collaboration between Russian and Tajik educational institutions.
