The ECOSOC Partner Forum, which took place on January 30th, 2024, is an annual major event and an established platform for discussing the progress and challenges in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Experts from the Center annually present the Russian experience in education quality assessment and international cooperation to promote education development through active participation in discussions on innovative methods of assessing student achievement. These discussions aimed not only to understand the current state of education in countries that use these approaches, but also to contribute to the localization of the 2030 Agenda at the country level.
The Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) Forum 2024 was held at the UN Headquarters in New York under the theme of “Strengthening the 2030 Agenda and Eradicating Poverty in Multiple Crises: Effective Implementation of Sustainable, Sustainable and Innovative Solutions.” The forum focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will be discussed at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in 2024. These goals include Goal 1: Poverty Eradication, Goal 2: Hunger Eradication, Goal 13: Eradicating Climate Change, Goal 16: Peace and Justice, and Goal 17: Partnership for Goals Achievement.
In accordance with resolution 75/290A, the 2024 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Partnership Forum focused on the exchange of new ideas, expectations, and priorities for future work on this topic by the forum and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). The forum presented and discussed innovative initiatives from UN member states and other stakeholders, with a particular focus on partnerships that could help mobilize resources for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and addressing new challenges.
Special attention was given to the exchange of best practices and development of solutions to improve education quality through cross-country partnerships and assistance to developing countries, as well as integration of sustainable development principles into education systems. Participation in the forum enabled the center to discuss advanced Russian initiatives and enhance Russia’s contributions to the global education community.
